Daniele Ninarello’s new creation takes shape from a deep reflection on the crisis arising from the disconnection between the individual and the collective. A widespread condition, in which one struggles to perceive the sense of belonging to a larger body, while the need to find a shared we remains alive – underground but insistent. Running counter to many of the dynamics that dominate our time, Ninarello chooses not to pit the self against the collective, but to investigate the bond between them, seeking the transformative potential contained in this relationship. RISE was born out of this momentum: a physical and poetic quest that stages the possibility of welcoming the other, letting its diversity pass through us, changing us, opening us up. It is in the act of welcoming otherness that a new collective voice capable of generating unprecedented forms of presence, coexistence and listening can be born. A dance that does not impose, but opens: the body becomes a shared space, a place of encounter and awakening. In RISE, simple gestures such as cradling, pushing and shoving activate a choreographic system where bodies tune like instruments in a shared score and the dance unfolds as a collective wave, nourished by their rhythmic musicality, propelled by Dan Kinzelman’s live soundscape. A vibrant us emerges, a choral presence that celebrates the life force of relationship.
